Yes, you read this correctly, this ballin’ and ready to fly 1967 Boeing 727-100 can be yours for just $700,000. Yes, that’s half the price of a large bus-based RV.
If you are like me, you like Steve Letho and you religiously listen to his awesome podcasts. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Recreation Vehicles are very different from cars when it comes to how the law protects you. You can either drop $1,500,000 on on some glorified bus and deal with law issues or go all out and buy this sweet VIP jet for half the price and pretend you are Donald Trump.
A bit of history, this aircraft was put into service in 1967. It flew around the world for PanAm until 1984, when she was bought by some rich dude who converted it into a VIP flying machine with acres of leather, tons of glossy wooden panels, mirrors and Persian carpeting. It is safe to assume that you won’t be the first to join the mile high club in that plane.
The aircraft can seat 23 people with two drivers and two models flight attendants. This plane is equipped with long range fuel tanks so you and your friends can conveniently fly nonstop from Hartford to Tröllhatan.
Powering this baby is a threesome of JT8D-9 low bypass turbofan engines, each of them delivering 14,500 pounds of thrust. The only catch here is that the engines are not fitted with hush kits and may not be compliant with noise regulation here in the northern Americas.
Apart from that, the plane is in mint condition with a 1998 interior upgrade and a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! inspired paint job. Keep in mind that a plane like this is not continuously boarded by hundred of plebes, but only flew from time to time by wealthy people, so it’s basically brand new.
The plane is for sale on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , which is like a aerospace version of bring-a-trailer. Interested, drive your tug down the Chino, California. No low-ballers.

Maintenance.
Operating costs (separate from maintenance).
Other than that? Seems like a solid plan. Unless you want to go somewhere other than an airport. ;)

An airport outside North America and the EU, that is.
Hushkits aren’t cheap, sadly.

I know air travel was more exclusive in the pre-deregulation era, but I don’t think an aircraft that was in commercial service for 17 years qualifies and brand new.

Why buy this and ride around like a poor, when you can pick up a VIP 747SP for only $1.5M:

Or, you can turn it into a tree house and save on all the licensing, operating and maintenance costs.

The 727 have ventral stairs that facilitate the conversion to a house.

What RVs are you cross shopping?
These are Winnebagos and they don’t even come close to 700K. My grandpa has an 06’ Tour and some other class C.

Try to fit 23 passengers in those things. with a 727 you can even put your car in the cargo hold. Much more versatile.

Right but he was commenting strictly on price.
